An investigation into Robert Brennan, 82, began on March 23 when his ex-wife's court-appointed guardian told him and Lower Moreland police he was no longer welcome at the incapacitated woman's Woodland Road home, local police said.
Brennan, who had a spare key, entered the house several times before the locks were changed on March 24, Lower Moreland police said.
By the time May 19 came around, Brennan had tried to get inside the home multiple times and on one occasion, was found locked inside his ex-wife's bedroom, police said. He was subsequently arrested for trespassing.
By that point, a judge had already ordered Brennan to have no contact with the woman and to stay away from the home, according to police.
On May 23, Brennan was served a protection from abuse order, which excludes him from the house and restricts him from contacting his ex-wife. The PFA was explained to him by his attorney, police said.
Those requirements were reiterated in district court during a subsequent preliminary hearing, authorities said.
Around three hours later, officers spotted Brennan's empty vehicle parked outside his ex-wife's house, they said. Then they saw him running towards the back of the home.
Officers later discovered him again locked inside his ex-wife's bedroom, police said. He was arrested for violating the PFA and trespassing.
